Kia KANA te MATA ki te Ao!

HĀKINAKINA

Rippa Rugby

Every year our kura participates in the Term 1 Omokoroa Rippa Rugby Module. We usually have a team per classroom compete in this draw.

In Term 1 we normally also host a Rippa Rugby Tournament on the Island for other Tauranga Moana Māori Medium Kura to participate in. The use of Te Reo Māori is a strong focus for this day.

Swimming

For the past 3 years, in Term 1, the kura has participated in swimming and water safety lessons. The expectation is for this to continue into the future.

Cross Country

In Term 2, all tamariki participate in Cross Country running. Some years the Kura travels to Whakamarama School to compete. In other years, our Kura has hosted Cross Country events for other Tauranga Māori-Medium kura.

Netball

A netball team for the kura was recently established for tamariki in Years 3-6. They play at the Harbour-side courts, Mt Maunganui on Saturday mornings.

Rugby

Due to a low population, most tamariki interested in playing rugby, play for the Te Puna Rugby Club on the mainland.

Athletics

All tamariki participate in athletics in Term 4. Year 0-3 students compete against other local schools at Omokoroa Number 1 School. Year 4-8 students compete at the local competition at Omokoroa Sports Fields.

TRI-KANA

In term 1 our Kura holds an annual triathlon for our tamariki. Swim, Bike & Run around the moutere.
